Apex Legends

Overview:

Apex Legends is a game developed by Respawn Entertainment, released on February 9th of 2019, so it’s just over a year old. The game is based off of Titanfall but with a whole new concept and new characters. This game is still a FPS but it’s a battle royale game. The game has 60 players and you and 2 other players are in a team and you and your team must be the last people standing in order to win the game. There are characters you can pick from that have special abilities that can assist you during the game. When going into the game you jump out a huge cargo plane and you and your team land on this huge island filled with locations, players, and weapons.

Gameplay:

Above are all of the Free to Play characters you can unlock. Bangalore has an ability that can deploy an airstrike on enemys. Bloodhound can track enemy footprints and also has a strength boost. Caustic has gas grenades that can damage players over time. Gibraltar has shield that he can shoot through and also his shield can deploy a bubble around teammates to protect them. Lifeline is able to heal teammates with her drone and she can also call in a supply crate. Mirage is able to make decoys of himself. Pathfinder can make a zip line for his teammates to use and he also has a grappling hook. Finally Wraith can turn invisible and make a teleported for her team and she can also hear something in her head which are warnings if someone is aiming at you. There are many gameplay elements. Like sliding or ramming through doors when sprinting. There is a way to bring your teammates back from the dead by going to a respawn area which you place their respawn card into a machine which brings them back in a jet. Then there are ares where you can skydive throughout the air by going up a rope. There is also no fall damage.

Review:

The game is pretty good, the gameplay is nice and smooth. But the updates for the game take to long to come out. It takes them about 3 months to push out new content. Otherwise its a pretty fun game to play. Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5

There have been many interpretations of the genre, and apex has a lot of aspects to the game that many don’t have. Apex is fun and simple, and I’d like to learn how to play the game properly in the future.“
